What tools do you use to do web design?

I am interested in what tools people use to create thier web pages with.
I personally use nothing special. I am very much a hands on HTML coder.
These are the sole tools I use;
Notepad and Paintshop Pro v5.0 (From a cover disk on a mag )
Then I go on to http://validator.w3.org/ to clean up any errors and then test for page layout anomolies with IE 6 & 7 and Firefox.
Anyone else out there still do it the old fashioned way, like this?
Text or HTML Editor? What do you use?

After a discussion with my dad recently (who calls himself an html programmer), the discussion of text editor vs html editor came up. What do you use when designing/modifying your scripts/website?
Me, I can’t stand html editors (Fireworks, Frontpage, Dreamweaver, etc), because they encourage sloppy coding and a lack of understanding of what’s really going on. I’ start all new projects in UltraEdit, which allows me to do everything remotely (ftp, project management, etc). What do you use, and why? SEO Company will drive the market to your site!
